Mercedes Schlapp doesn't have an easy gig as the White House strategic communications adviser. The White House's strategic communications advisor Mercedes Schlapp is required faced a myriad of issues. They include Presidents who is also his own director of communication as well as numerous legal issues that could disrupt the messaging strategy. But through it all Schlapp has stayed focused on the mission that she has been assigned, and is working closely with White House's policy and legislative affairs teams and policy shops as in the larger communication operation for policy-related rollouts. The focus is on topics like school safety, opioids, infrastructure and trade. Schlapp doesn't deal with reporters frequently in her current job. She received a lot of media attention when her name was mentioned as a potential candidate for the position of succeeding Hope Hicks in the role of communications director. Mercedes Schlapp isn't in a good position as White House strategist communications advisor. The White House's advisor to strategic communications has to deal various legal battles which could affect the communication strategy of the administration, along with Cabinet secretaries that are embroiled in their own scandals. Schlapp has never strayed from her mission, and has was closely involved to work closely with White House policy and political teams. The focus has been on matters such as school safety, opioids and infrastructure, and trade. As a director, she does not have contact with journalists. But, back in March, she was mentioned to be the person who could take over Hope Hicks at the Communications Director post. The fight has been ugly. Schlapp's allies and Tony Sayegh started arguing with the media. Schlapp said that after she learned that the Washington Examiner had published an article with negative comments about Sayegh's persona, she phoned Sayegh for a private conversation.
